I have developed a rather extensive meditation practice. It is a mixture of my magical knowledge and yoga. Yoga and magic are not as far away as one might think. In my opinion magic and whitchcraft were our interpretation of yoga back in the day, before we banished it. The core of my practice has stayed the same for many years now, but the ritual around it evolved, to allow me to be more grounded and peaceful.
In my experience, yoga is rather “heaven-centered”, which is fine by itself. But as I moved along in my development, I noticed that I can only move forward, when I am as grounded as I am flying in the heavens. It has always been the middle way for me.
This is why a few months ago, I added the Moon goddes “Luna”. She connects me to femininity and my body. Representing my body as part of Pachamama, a part of earth.
I don’t do everything in the following list every day, it depends on what I feel like:
Most of the days I start my playlist, which consists of seven tracks of tibetan singing bowl music of four minutes each. Each track is designed with a special frequency for each Chakra. These days I ignore the specific music though.
First, I stand before my meditation place and greet it. It is a holy place with it’s own energy. I am thankful to have created something powerful as this place. I inhale deeply and on exhaling, I cross the threshold. It is important to notice the threshold to automatically bring the mind in the right place, too.
Once I stand on my meditation place, I take my wand. Yes, I have a wand. For me it is a powerful tool to channel my energy. I have four symbols around my meditation space, which symbolize the four elements:
North: A stone for earth
West: A little bottle with water
South: A carnelian stone for fire
East: An aventurine stone with the Anahata-Chakra symbol for air
I point my wand to the north symbol and while moving in a circle with my wand from each symbol to the next, I visualize drawing a glowing line, which I close at the north element. Also I speak the following text:
Guardians of the elements, I call upon you, to please protect my sacred circle.
Afterwards I point my wand upwards and hold it between both hands:
Spirit of the universe, I call upon you, to please fill my sacred circle with peace, with love and with divinity. And grant me access to claritiy, insight and wisdom.
I point the wand downwards and chant:
Pachamama, my mother, I invite you into my sacred circle.
I offer my wand with both hands and speak:
Goddes Luna, your humble priestess asks for your guidance.
I sit down and while visualizing a sphere, which I close with my wand from the buttom up, I speak:
I cast my sacred circle for my spiritual development, inner peace and emotional freedom.
In written form this looks like a lot, but it takes two minutes or so.
Once I’ve done this, I have created a really calm and quiet place. If I have something particular to do and I know, it will be hard, I also do:
I invite anyone willing to help into my sacred circle.
This is important, because the circle (I know, it’s a sphere) will exclude any outside help otherwise, too. Sometimes I like to be on my own. Sometimes I ask for guidance, sometimes I ask for help.
Now I meditate. For me, meditation is usually quite active. I don’t sit around doing nothing for half an hour. But I can get into the meditative state quite easily. So this might not be so easy for you.
Practically, I visit every Chakra from the bottom up and meditate on it, by visualizing the color and chanting the Bija Mantra of each Chakra. Also, I like to visualize the Chakra as open and sometimes I let it vibrate with the music.
What I don’t do, is force anything. I don’t force energy entering or leaving the Chakra. In my experience it has to happen by itself.
Mūlādhāra: Red, Lam
Svādhisthāna: Orange, Vam
Manipūra: Yellow, Ram
Anāhata: Green, Jam
Viśuddha: Blue, Ham
Ājñā: Purple, Om
Sahasrāra: White, Hrim
Sometimes I visualize two or more or all Chakras at the same time, if I have some specific healing task to to. In my experience for example the Mūlādhāra Chakra is great for relaxation and healing. Which means, if I want to support Viśuddha, I sometimes add Mūlādhāra, to intensify the effect. I also merge the Mantras in this case: HaLam
Visualizing all of the Chakras active has a very intense effect for me.
Once I’m done I say: I bow in deep gratitude before my undying soul and the powers of the universe. I am your humble servant. Please guide my way.
I then realease my circle:
Guardians of the elements, I thank you for your aid and for protecting my sacred circle. I Release you.
Spirit of the universe, I thank you for filling my sacred circle with peace, with love and with divinity. And for granting me access to clarity, insight and wisdom.
Pachamama, my mother, you humble me with your presence.
Goddes Luna, your humble priestess thanks you for your guidance.
I release my sacred circle, which I’ve cast for my spiritual development, inner peace and emotional freedom.
I then stand up and leave my meditation space, being aware of crossing the threshold into my everyday consciousness.
Love, Julia
